Tracking down Shannon Michael Cane a.k.a Shaggs isn’t easy. This past month he’s been hustling to finish Issue 4 of “They Shoot Homos Don’t They?” and working ‘til the wee hours planning the next “Witness Protection Program Social Club” gathering, the favored traveling party slated for Good Friday and cleverly themed “The Fashion of Christ.” Shaggs is a proud Australian/dj/party promoter/magazine publisher with a knack for marketing to indie hipsters and the young art crowd. But considering his surroundings, he’s a surprisingly modest guy.

Unconventional

West Texas Highway hangs proudly in my bedroom; my first real art acquisition, beyond minor thefts from mom and stray pieces from a tortured ex. Beyond the sheer beauty of the piece, I was struck by my gut reaction: dreamy, serene and happy. Recently I sat down with its creator, Tina Hejtmanek to get the low-down on her work.
