Something new is in the air at London fashion hub Dover Street Market. The boutique launched its inaugural scent last week that’s sure to nestle nicely under its own roof first before going global at Commes des Garcon and other select retailers next month. The Fragrance is unisex and is a blend of bergamot, coriander, incense, patchouli and pine creating a modern twist on a classic woody. Package design is by Commes des Garcon with labeling that is signature DSM. And if you can’t get the jet this weekend, feel free to pick it up for 50 pounds at the DSM e-shop.

Nooka wants to get more intimate on you in a way that’s familiar…yet foreign. Well known for their innovative timepieces, accessories and collectibles, Nooka introduced this fragrance as first in a line called Beyond Common Scents which was launched in July at Den in NYC. The self-designed, futuristic box makes a point (2 sharp ones to be exact) with shiny and muted silver juxtaposing each other unmistakably. Inside, Nooka the fragrance is enclosed in a custom-made bottle with a multi-faceted gem of a top. Purpose-Built wrote all of the product copy, advised on formulation and package design. Purpose-Built also developed the entire launch strategy including marketing, PR, pop-up shop catalyst and is also responsible for this lengthy, self-promoting post. Nooka is now available at www.nooka.com.

If you can’t say it, then just wear it. Illamasqua (pronounced ill-ah-mASS-qua) is a UK-based color cosmetic line introduced by makeup artists in 2008, that has become well-know for its nighttime color combos and deep, rich palettes. The line is meant to invoke the mysterious drama of 1920’s Berlin and is geared toward creating striking, theatrical looks that are perfect for all your red carpet moments. Think of it as the new MAC-gone-goth. Get your death-rock on at exclusively at Sephora …we mean with Illamasqua makeup, not the sales staff.

Water never looked so good with Kor’s sharp new bottle offering crafted for fashionable fill-ups at the fountain. Made from BPA free plastics and partnering with environmentally-conscious orgs like the Algalita Marine Research Foundation and the Blue Planet Run, Kor is saying they are not here to screw the Earth. They’re also non-screw on the cap and the bottle can be thrown in the top shelf of the dishwasher. Each of the beautiful, modern-lined containers match a different non-profit and you can stick personalized “stones” in the cap with positive messaging like “Never Settle”. Now that’s hard KOR.

We know you’re happy with Mr. Magnum as your BF but seethe at the site of that tacky black and gold box sitting on your thousand dollar Stark sides. Your solution is here. Pack of Loves’ concept of getting your groove on gets groovier by offering a range of designer boxes to contain your condoms for when you can’t contain yourself. Their idea is to make condoms less embarrassing to buy and collaborates with retailers to create packaging unique to their boutique. I’d say this idea has hip hotel written all over it. Current designers include Liselotte Watkins who’s worked with Anna Sui, Bergdorf Goodman and Barneys and Malin Gyllensvaan who’s been a print designer with H&M since ’03. Way to get it on guys.

Welcome back to the Valley of the Dolls. Well, not quite, but these pills do have pep thanks to this snappy design for Shiseido’s Chou-Mei-Sou supplementary health pills. The mult-colored, translucent and “color-changing” bottle was designed by Helvetica of Tokyo. The transition of color from blue to green are references to water and earth and the hexagonal pills are made from grasses that grow on cliff-tops by the sea in eastern Japan. Who said “you’ve got to climb Mount Everest to reach the Valley of the Dolls.”? Thanks Dieline for showing us a new high in package design.

It used to be that Brawny was the man around town who’s package we were grabbing for messy times but it looks like he now has competition. Traidcraft (in partnership with SCA Hygene Products), is now trying to grab your attention and your conscience as they offer you tissues with package messaging like “I’m cleaning up trade injustice” and “I’m blowing away poverty”. And my favorite…“I’m on the board of directors of Traidcraft and I love my new Range Rover.” Anyway, not only are the products 100% recycled paper but a portion of the purchase is pooled to pull people out of poverty. What a way to wipe! –>
